We’ve rescheduled the Fourth of July races for this Saturday, July 9, at 1:30 p.m. and will hold the Wooden Boat Classic on Sunday at noon to honor our club’s patriarch, Dick Garbisch, who turned 100 this year.

On Sunday, let’s plan to gather around Hillaway shortly before noon, then we’ll sail past the Garbisch cabin a few times. The classic has been upgraded to a “promenade” to ensure our wooden boats are well preserved.

Wooden runabouts are also joining the procession, as are a few non-wooden sail boats. So we hope to see you out there. The more the merrier. It should be fun.

As for the Saturday race, we might need to self start because we don’t have a committee boat lined up yet. But the forecast is calling for southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph. So it should be manageable.

Last weekend, the wind died down to nothing on both Saturday and Sunday, then picked up shortly after we canceled the races. Hopefully, we’ll have better luck this weekend.

Hope to see you on the water.
